A fantastic weekend with a great team and family. Great bonding with both groot and rocket over weekend. Good to be the cream of the crop team and take out the trophy though, felt exhilarating to win a final and contribute a decent amount. Overall felt I played the best I have over the past mixed and current open season, and feel ready to build into an exiting finale at Nationals in Wellington.
I also had a great last week at the PT studio, running an awesome group class and getting positive recognition from Dean which is no easy thing. The class went so well due to applying all I had learned from the previous class, and designing multiple different circuits for variety, and doing all the 'little things' right, such as timing, communication, technique feedback and music. My overall weekly goal for the studio was to get team MVP, which I did.
Reasons behind successes:
I feel the reasons behind my success this weekend were not by chance but due to careful mental preparation and good hydration and nutrition over the 6 game weekend.
Mental preparation:
My overall goal for the weekend was to focus on being completely focused on one task at a time, when on the field being 100% focused on team strategy on the line, and then my defensive assignment, or offensive role and what I could do better than last point, and what I could add to the current point. I could improve on this by

I could improve on this by
- Reflecting on what I could do better than last point on sidelines, when getting water/sugar, so when I get back on the field I know what I need to do, and can just focus on doing my job/role required and do it better.
- Playing my role better on Zone and defense in general. Most of the weekend I though my positioning man-to-man was a big improvement, bodying out defenders for unders' and busting ass long, sometimes beat by good throws. Handler defense was tenacious, not giving up anything, and predicting movement well.
- Energy and fire on defense was not there to usual standard. Somewhat came down to fatigue, but think I have an extra gear I did not reach this weekend on D. Gotta want it more. Multiple lay opportunity's.
- Staying relaxed and loose during a game, on the line. getting the better of my final's and big game nerves by joking with team and having fun.
- Staying focused during big games, against groot and magon. Most present and task orientated I've been for a whole tournament. Can be put down to good goal setting and self-management (hydration/nutrition).
Biggest highlights of weekend:
- Beating groot in semi.
- Owning magon in final. bants with fish and chips after final.
Most fun I've had with Ultimate this year! Feeling much more pumped for nationals, whichever team I end up playing on. 4 weeks baby!
Emotions: Satisfied, confident, exited.
