The Body and our Unconscious Computer. Who is playing God?

Vessels dilate, constrict according to physical demands, the heart beats faster, the sympathetic nervous system responds to challenge, the parasympathetic keeps normal vagal tone for the heart, balances membrane potentials, digestion, repair and maintenance of tissues... What does all this? The mind? The brain? little is understood how our body is perfectly run without our conscious awareness.  The brain is the finer machinery ordering the body, but how is the brain maintained? The mind is subtler still, the conscious mind channeling our state of present awareness and the subconscious mind dictates our stored experiences, emotion and beliefs, of which form habitual behaviour making up 40% of our action. In medical science, medicine is used to alter a dysfunctional response in the body, ie. to dilate the blood vessels to allow increased demand for activity, if the patient has had prolonged bedrest or surgery.  Often not considered is the patterns moving our illness on the gross...

Physical ilness: From where does it come

Belief systems: the foundation to which all actions, thoughts, energy, likes, aversions, attachments come from, our underlying subconscious programming. NLP: neuro-linguistic programming is the long term training program to change our computer, I have been undertaking this training for the past 1 and a half years.  Its easy to blame "if I only did this" and self-aggrandise, punish and torment ourselves for mistakes, but the real mover lies in that habitual programming we have, untill we change that we cannot make changes via our small seemingly important decisions: they are influenced by our unconscious computer.  Once we begin to face and unpack our subconscious, we can be more at peace, forgive ourselves, and understand our actions and behaviour better. And ultimately create the person we want to be, achieve the goals we want, have the attitude and attract the right people, have better relationships, and have more satisfaction. The price is persistent effort, every day to c...
Facing the Shadow Mediation this week is our unconscious shadow guiding our action and internal dialogue. Becoming conscious is to change our energy output, via choice, in our actions toward ourself and others. Most of the time we are guided by fear and judgement. True humility, is to no longer be subject to humiliation. Take a risk to be considered a fool. Tools to achieve real humility? Start with self-esteem. Self-recognition, to create a strong self-identity. Who am I? What is significant to me/has shaped me? Once I'm aware, I know what moves me and has shaped me, I can change it. Replacing the negative guilt, blame and frustration characters, with true love, self respect and esteem, the positive becomes our contribution to the world rather than our search for it outside of us. Disentangle from old negative habits and form new attachment to positive action. The reward? I am able to respond to any situation with balance and grace. The world see's us as we see ourselves...

Compassion, Relations and Habit

Relationships in my life have changed dramatically over past month from using a gratitude meditation. Using a broad vision, seeing each relationship and person in a continuum rather than defined by single events.  This helps to override present state duality, good or bad perceptions, slights, faultfinding, envy and so forth. Practice exercise : To view each flatmate with this viewpoint, broad minded. Writer, Destiny, Habit. Every day, ten minutes. I dedicate time to this blog, building skills needed to write books, critically reflect on Bhakti, university, therapy to organise thoughts coherently, creating rich fruits of experience and realisation to help guide myself and others. Rising early is bringing a calmness and fresh start and an exiting habit to maintain. Knowledge is Power Knowledge of our actual position and that of others, the playing field we are on, the rules of the game, is the platform of knowledge. From this we can evoke compassion to help others, armed with k...

Love vs Fear? The Art of Self-Awareness

A familiar feeling of trepidation swept over me.  I stepped over the threshold into the cold clinical setting of a Yr two practical examination room.  "have i missed my exam slot?" , "did they forget to call me in?" panicking, I fought to retain composure as my clinical supervisor approached me. "Alex, there you are! please come through, the exam is about to start" . As stood and waited to see which examiner and clinical scenario I would get, p ast memories flashed through my mind of my first exam sit.  "What If I fail again?" The same words echoed in my mind hauntingly, inviting the inevitable.  I was directed towards the furthest booth, with my examiner Richard, head of the musculoskeletal department, who curtly nodded as I nervously greeted him. An exam moderator sat a short distance furiously scribbling on a clipboard. I read the brief and the exam timer rang to signal the start.  He began "You have a 45 yr old builder with rig...

Man, the Mind and Action

Men generally have two propensities, intelligence with action and emotion with stagnation. Research into EFT (emotional freedom techniques) gives insight that confrontation with an observer can knock one out of an emotional barrier or problem avoidance pattern. Psychology would call it a state-change, can be generated by a change of circumstance or environment and is facilitated by action. EFT is based on action, self-ownership to overcome mental blocks. This energy is sourced from within, not externally. The therapist just acts as a facilitator to bring it out. Relationships work like this also, negative experience creating negative impression, avoidance and resentment. How to combat this? Create positive new experiences and break out of the rhythm the mind it set to. State change and action. The mind is a machine and needs training the same way the body does to work properly. In summary EFT is a discipline to help control the mind from the many influences, or effectors which lead i...

Taking a leap into Faith and Fear

Anxiety. Moving in with new people in a community setting, for the goal of developing more in Krishna Consciousness. Leaving a comfortable flat, with convienient location I'm forced to rethink my priorities. My fear holds me back from making this brave decision. Will I regret it? Will i get ripped off? Is it a foolhardy move, from a logic standpoint? Then I must ask, what will I gain, through priceless memories with the guys of the ashram, and what is the worst that could happen? Okay I could get evicted, have to rearrange my situation. So I'm still alive right? Priorities. Living with devotees, how important is it? Priority for comfort and security or living with devotees? Up to priority. Material priorities are not as big for me now, I have changed. I need the guidance and help from. Fear, landlord, something goes wrong? Will I lose caravan? Unlikely. But if it happens it happens, this is my move and I'll be brave and take a leap. Doubts again. I will be left in a ba...
